Fire Sprinkler Inspector
Job Purpose/Summary:

To conduct inspections of fire sprinkler systems and related equipment. Recognize deficiencies and identify corrective actions necessary to make system compliant with applicable codes, standards, laws and regulations.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
Provide proposals for inspections and/or testing based on customer request/site visit.
Track and maintain individual schedule and inspection/testing dates.
Perform inspections and/or testing of automatic sprinkler systems (wet, dry, pre-action, deluge, etc.), fire pumps and perform hydrant flow tests.
Use of ladder and/or lift to complete inspections and testing.
Perform testing/inspection/service of fire extinguishers.
Document deficiencies found during inspection/testing, prepare deficiency proposal and follow up on status of deficiency correction.
Perform minor deficiency repairs in the field (i.e. adding an escutcheon, installing a calc plate, replacing a sign, etc.) for fire sprinkler systems and related equipment.
Attend meetings with the contractor/property manager/owner or other parties for communication, coordination, scheduling, conflict resolution or other purposes.
Compose emails to include technical writing, complete deficiency reports and present information/respond to questions from managers, customers, authorities having jurisdiction and incoming inquiries.
Any other inspection tasks as assigned.
Qualifications:
Minimum two (2) year experience inspecting, testing and/or repairing of fire sprinkler systems.
Strong working knowledge of all NFPA and local applicable codes required.
Currently possess/retain or obtain NICET Level 1 Certification within one year of hire.
Currently possess/retain or obtain Backflow Certification within one year of hire.
Certified to perform testing/inspection/service of fire extinguishers required.
Proficient in the use of computers and tablets, Microsoft office - both in the office and in the field.
Required to read, write, understand and communicate well in the English language clearly.
Ability to maintain professional demeanor while performing inspections/testing in occupied places of business and when dealing with difficult situations.
Excellent time management, organization and customer service skills required.
Must adhere to all safety requirements.
High School Diploma/GED required.
Must be detail-oriented, punctual, organized and able to multi-task in fast-paced environment.
Ability to work well with others in different departments.
At least 18 years of age and able to legally work in the US.
Must be able to pass drug screen.
Valid driver’s license and clean driving record preferred.
Must have clean driving record, valid Driver’s License, be at least 21 years of age and be insurable under Kazal automobile policy if driving company vehicle.
Must have reliable transportation and maintain acceptable personal automobile insurance coverage if position requires driving a personal vehicle to conduct Kazal business.
 
 
Fire Protection Designer
Job Description:

Immediate opening is available in our Design Department for a full-time position. This is a design department position that will design under the guidance of the design manager and also require the applicant to be a reliable and valuable resource to other designers and the company. Kazal Fire Protection, Inc., highly supports growth from within. Out Design Department collectively has over 40 years experience in fire protection design in Southern Arizona, including projects in California, New Mexico, Nevada, and Oklahoma. Our design department follows strict policies and standards that are reflected in our plans and shop drawings. Kazal Fire Protection, Inc., is nationally renowned for the product which our design department develops and we strive to maintain a high level of professionalism in everything we do.

This position requires that the applicant have as a minimum the following qualifications:
Proficiency with AutoCAD/AutoCAD MEP, or Revit/Revit MEP, Navisworks, or AutoSprink.
Proficiency with Microsoft Windows and Office products.
Strong mathematical skills including logarithmic plotting of water supply data, use of the Pythagorean Theorem, and manipulation of algebraic equations to solve for friction losses in piping, sprinkler discharge, or other variables.
Ability to work under tight deadlines and maintain individual schedule and completion dates.
Ability to read and understand local, government, insurance, fire and building codes and standards, Contact Documents, plans, specifications, and technical business documents.
Technical writing skills including letter and email writing, project requests for information, and other written communications.
Ability to conduct site surveys, using a ladder and/or lift, inspect sprinkler system installations, witness system testing on working jobsites.
Minimum three (3) years of experience required and ability to pursue/maintain NICET certification, NICET Level I, II, III, or IV in Water-based systems layout or PE Certification preferred.
Experience on large scale projects such as high rise buildings, hospitals, aircraft hangars and/or warehouses preferred.
BIM modeling, working in 3D environments, coordinating with 3D models produced by other trades or software and the ability to clash and resolve preferred.
Experience with AFFF, High Expansion foam systems, fire pumps, both electric and diesel engine drives, pre-action and dry systems, ESFR, storage and rack systems, paint booths, standpipe systems, seismic bracing and seismic bracing calculations preferred.
Working knowledge of NFPA 13, NFPA 20, NFPA 14, UFC 3-600-01, ETL 02-15, IFC, IBC, and various other NFPA, building, municipal, and military codes preferred.
Use of hydraulic calculation software, such as HASS, HydraCAD, SprinkCAD, or AutoSprink preferred.
Must have clean driving record and valid Driver’s License.
Must pass a drug screen.
 
 
Fitter – Fire Sprinkler
Job Purpose/Summary:
Responsible for and assist in the layout, assembly and installation of fire sprinkler piping and materials to produce a complete, quality system that is accurately finished system per plans, specifications and code requirements.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
Determine project requirements including scope, assembly sequences and required methods and materials by reading/understanding blueprints, drawings and written and/or verbal instructions to fit system properly.
Planning of work and leading of apprentices and field helpers.
Knowledge of servicing, installing and repairing all types of fire sprinkler systems to include wet pipe, dry systems, FM200, HEF, fire pumps, etc.
Working knowledge of code requirements (NFPA, City, etc.).
Identify any expected field issues and communicate with in-house departments to mitigate.
Able to identify and select type/size of pipe and related materials and equipment for layout and installation.
Examine work pieces for defects and measure work pieces with straight edge and/or template to ensure conformance with specifications.
Perform cutting, fitting and pipe connecting to fabricate or alter materials onsite if needed.
Utilize a variety of power and hand tools for needed application.
Installation of all materials required for complete system and use of ladder or lift as required.
Install components of machines/equipment for valves, pumps, etc.
Meet schedules and deadlines of projects.
Complete required documentation and reports for each project including, but not limited to, daily time sheets, daily reports, work orders and test certificates.
Adhere to all safety policies/procedures and maintain clean work area at all times.
Any other sprinkler fitter and/or field tasks as assigned.
Qualifications:
Four (4) years of previous fire sprinkler fitter experience required; certification from registered sprinkler fitter apprenticeship training program preferred.
High School Diploma/GED required.
Out of state and overnight travel to jobsites for an extended period of time required when needed.
Working knowledge of OSHA safety standards required.
Must be physically fit to perform the work, able to work on ladders, lifts or elevated surfaces, able to bend/kneel throughout shift and able to lift up to 75 lbs.
Must be detail-oriented, punctual, organized and able to multi-task in fast-paced environment.
Able to communicate and perform independently and as a team player to ensure successful projects.
Ability to work well with others in different departments and different trades on jobsites.
Must keep professional demeanor when dealing with difficult situations.
Required to read, write, understand and communicate well in the English language.
At least 18 years of age and able to legally work in the US.
Must be able to pass a drug screen.
This position requires security clearance to get on job site, therefore it is required that applicants have a clean background.
Must have valid Driver’s License, clean driving record, be at least 21 years of age and be insurable under Kazal automobile policy if driving company vehicle.
Must have reliable transportation and maintain acceptable personal automobile insurance coverage if position requires driving a personal vehicle to conduct Kazal business.
