Job Purpose/Summary

To conduct inspections of fire sprinkler systems and related equipment. Recognize deficiencies and identify corrective actions necessary to make system compliant with applicable codes, standards, laws and regulations.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Provide proposals for inspections and/or testing based on customer request/site visit.
  • Track and maintain individual schedule and inspection/testing dates.
  • Perform inspections and/or testing of automatic sprinkler systems (wet, dry, pre-action, deluge, etc.), fire pumps and perform hydrant flow tests.
  • Use of ladder and/or lift to complete inspections and testing.
  • Perform testing/inspection/service of fire extinguishers.
  • Document deficiencies found during inspection/testing, prepare deficiency proposal and follow up on status of deficiency correction.
  • Perform minor deficiency repairs in the field (i.e. adding an escutcheon, installing a calc plate, replacing a sign, etc.) for fire sprinkler systems and related equipment.
  • Attend meetings with the contractor/property manager/owner or other parties for communication, coordination, scheduling, conflict resolution or other purposes.
  • Compose emails to include technical writing, complete deficiency reports and present information/respond to questions from managers, customers, authorities having jurisdiction and incoming inquiries.
  • Any other inspection tasks as assigned.

Qualifications

  • Minimum two (2) year experience inspecting, testing and/or repairing of fire sprinkler systems.
  • Strong working knowledge of all NFPA and local applicable codes required.
  • Currently, possess/retain or obtain NICET Level 1 Certification within one year of hire.
  • Currently, possess/retain or obtain Backflow Certification within one year of hire.
  • Certified to perform testing/inspection/service of fire extinguishers required.
  • Proficient in the use of computers and tablets, Microsoft office – both in the office and in the field.
  • Required to read, write, understand and communicate well in the English language clearly.
  • Ability to maintain professional demeanor while performing inspections/testing in occupied places of business and when dealing with difficult situations.
  • Excellent time management, organization and customer service skills required.
  • Must adhere to all safety requirements.
  • High School Diploma/GED required.
  • Must be detail-oriented, punctual, organized and able to multi-task in fast-paced environment.
  • Ability to work well with others in different departments.
  • At least 18 years of age and able to legally work in the US.
  • Must be able to pass drug screen.
  • Valid driver’s license and clean driving record preferred.
  • Must have clean driving record, valid Driver’s License, be at least 21 years of age and be insurable under Kazal automobile policy if driving company vehicle.
  • Must have reliable transportation and maintain acceptable personal automobile insurance coverage if position requires driving a personal vehicle to conduct Kazal business.
